Early ACC Conference Championships Winner Odds and Pick

ACC LogoIt’s not even Christmas yet and ACC Conference games haven’t even begun, but that doesn’t mean it is too early to bet on which ACC team will win Conference this year.  Most teams are around 10 games into their seasons so we have some idea of what each ACC team is capable of and oddsmaker Bovada.lv has the odds set out already as to which team will win the ACC.  Let’s check them out:

ACC Conference Winner Odds

  • Duke 1/1
  • North Carolina State 11/4
  • North Carolina 9/2
  • Maryland 8/1
  • Miami 9/1
  • Florida State 18/1
  • Virginia 18/1
  • Virginia Tech 20/1
  • Clemson 25/1
  • Georgia Tech 35/1
  • Boston College 50/1
  • Wake Forest 50/1

One thing that jumps out at me immediately is North Carolina State being a bigger favorite than North Carolina. The ACC usually comes down to either Duke or North Carolina, but this year it could be a 3 team race.

Prediction

Duke has started off the season very strong and currently has a 9-0 record. This includes defeats of some top schools including highly ranked Louisville and Ohio State. Each decent 5 point victories. We also can’t forget to mention the 7 point win over the University of Kentucky in early November as well. Duke has shown their ability early in the season and is currently sitting atop the national rankings. So it is no wonder they are 1/1 to win the ACC at this point in time.

NC State, the second favorites in the Conference, have an 8-2 record and sit at #25 in the country in rankings. They lost to Oklahoma State pretty badly and also to Michigan State (#3 at the time). That said the also defeated Connecticut another 8-2 team from the Big East.

North Carolina is ranked #23 and also has an 8-2 record. That said their losses have been a little worse than NC States. They lose to Indiana, who was ranked #1 at the time, by 24 points! And there other loss came to a Butler team they are expected to beat (that said Butler just beat Indiana as well). North Carolina hasn’t really beat anyone that good yet and we will get to see more what the team is made of in the coming days.

Maryland at 8/1 might be a decent bet too. They are 9-1 at this point and the only loss was to Kentucky by 3 points in their first game of the year. That said they haven’t beaten anyone worth talking about in these 10 games, but they have gotten the job done.

Miami beat Michigan State, which is why they are only 9/1 dogs, but they haven’t done anything else notable and lost to a weak team early on.

The teams from the ACC are all solid and none currently have a losing record so it is hard to say which team will come out of here as the top dog. Virginia and Virginia Tech are also each 8-2 at the moment.

That said from the sample size we have so far and the difficulty of opponents you have to give Duke the nod as the heavy favorite in the ACC. After that I prefer North Carolina over NC State at almost double the odds.

Plays: Duke +100 and North Carolina +450 (Bovada.lv)
